History
Formation and Early Years | |
2002 | Hayley Williams met Josh and Zac Farro when she moved from Mississippi to Tennessee. They had a weekly supplemental program for home-schooled students. |
2004 | The band Paramore was officially formed in Franklin, Tennessee which comprised of the original members Josh Farro (lead guitar/ backing vocals) Zac Farro (drums), Jeremy Davis (bass guitar) and Hayley WIlliams (lead vocals). Later on, Williams' neighbor Jason Bynum (rhythm guitar) joined them. The name of the band "Paramore" came from the maiden name of the mother of one of their first bass players which also turns out to be a homophone of another word Paramour, meaning “secret lover.” They adopted the former spelling to name their band. |
2005 | After a smaller private performance at a warehouse, the band was signed to Atlantic Records and Fueled By Ramen. |
All We Know Is Falling | |
2005 | Jeremy Davis left the band due to personal reasons, and John Hembree was added to fill in his position. Meanwhile, the remaining members of the band formed their album “All We Know Is Falling” from that event. Five months later, the band asked Jeremy Davis to return, thus replacing Hembree’s position. |
July 2005 | “All We Know Is Falling” is released and was able to rank No. 30 on the Billboard's Heatseekers Chart. On the same month, Paramore released "Pressure" as its first single, with a video directed by Shane Drake, but the song failed to chart. On the same month, their second and third single, “Emergency” and “All We Know” were both released. |
January 2006 | The band took part in the Winter Go West tour where they played alongside Seattle bands Amber Pacific and The Lashes. |
June 2006 | Paramore was an opening act on tours for both Bayside and The Rocket Summer. The band then covered Foo Fighters' "My Hero" for the Sound of Superman soundtrack. |
July 2006 | Paramore played a portion of Warped Tour, primarily on the Volcom and Hurley Stages, and their first night on the Main Stage was at a date in their hometown of Nashville. During the band's time at Warped Tour, they released The Summer Tic EP, which was sold exclusively during the tour. |
August 2006 | Paramore's first US headlining tour began on to a sold-out audience. |
2007 | Lamb left the group to get married, and Paramore continued onward as a quartet. Paramore was then named by British magazine NME as one of ten bands to watch out for in their "New Noise 2007" feature. |
April 2007 | Hayley Williams' vocals were featured in "Then Came To Kill" by The Chariot. In the same month until May, they headlined a tour initially with This Providence, The Almost, and Love Arcade. |
Riot! | |
June 2007 | The album “Riot!” was released shortly after Davis was expelled due to "his lack of work ethic and participation in things that Zac, Hayley and I didn’t agree with." The album ranked #20 in Billboard 200 and #24 at the UK charts. The album sold 44,000 units its first week in the United States. The first single from the album, "Misery Business", was released on the 21st. |
October 2007 | The music video for "Crushcrushcrush" debuted on the United States television as the next single from Riot!. |
November 2007 | “Crushcrushcrush” was released in the United States on the 19th and was made available in the United Kingdom on the 12th. |
December 2007 | Paramore performed on the MTV’s New Year Program. |
February 2008 | Paramore rose to fame as they were featured on the cover of Alternative Press magazine and as they were voted "Best Band Of 2007" by the readers. They also got nominated for "Best New Artist" at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards. In early parts of the month, the band began a tour in Europe, but they had to cancel six shows due to personal issues. Williams wrote on the band's web site that "the break will give that band 'a chance to get away and work out our personal issues'". |
March 2008 | The band, after several issues, returned to their hometown to record the music video for the fourth single "That's What You Get." This was released on the 24th. |
April 2008 | The band toured with Jimmy Eat World in the United States for 2 months. |
May 2008 | Paramore headlined the Give It A Name festival in the United Kingdom on the 10th and 11th. Along with this, the band performed on the In New Music We Trust Stage at Radio 1's One Big Weekend in Mote Park. |
July 2008 | Paramore embarked on a tour named "The Final Riot!" until September. On this tour, the band performed part of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" |
September 2008 | Paramore released a collaboration hoodie along with Hurley Clothing based on the album Riot!. All proceeds went to the Love146 foundation. |
November 2008 | The band released a live album named The Final Riot! |
Brand New Eyes | |
January 2009 | The band officially announced their upcoming album. |
May 2009 | Paramore was the special guest with Bedouin Soundclash, The Sounds and Janelle Monáe at the No Doubt Summer Tour 2009. |
July 2009 | The first single from the album, "Ignorance," was released. |
August 2009 | The official music video for "Ignorance" aired on all MTV platforms, networks, and websites. "Brick By Boring Brick", "The Only Exception", "Careful" and "Playing God" were the album's following singles. |
2010 | The band performed in the Australian Soundwave Festival along with bands such as Faith No More, Placebo, You Me at Six, All Time Low, Jimmy Eat World and Taking Back Sunday. |
December 2010 | The band announced the official dates for a South American tour to take place during February and March 2011. The band were set to take a break after their South American Tour to write for their fourth studio album. |
December 2010 | A message from Hayley, Jeremy, and Taylor was released through their website, stating that Josh and Zac were leaving the band. Nevertheless, the band still pushed through with the scheduled South American tour. |
January 2011 | In an interview with MTV, Hayley Williams said that despite the band losing two of its founding members, they would release new music in 2011, although they had not confirmed if it would be a full album for release or just a small number of songs. |
June 2011 | Paramore released the single "Monster", featured on the Transformers: Dark of the Moon soundtrack, on YouTube. This is the first song that the band released without the Farro brothers. The band had started to write their fourth album, which they hoped to start recording at the end of the year, with an early 2012 release |

April 2012 | Williams announced that the producer for their fourth album was Justin Meldal-Johnsen. |
January 2013 | The first single from the album, titled "Now", was released online. |
March 2013 | The album's second single, "Still Into You", was released on the 14th achieving commercial success. |
April 2013 | Paramore was officially released on the 5th and a #1 at US albums chart Billboard 200. |
December 2013 | The third single, "Daydreaming", was released. |
February 2014 | The album's fourth single, "Ain't It Fun", was released, eventually becoming the band's highest charting song in the United States and a winner for Best Rock Song at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards. |
November 2014 | Paramore: Self-Titled Deluxe was released, which includes a remake of "Hate to See Your Heart Break," a song originally on Paramore, featuring Joy Williams; this is the band's first collaboration on a song. |
December 2015 | Bassist Jeremy Davis left the band. |
Zac Farro's return and After Laughter | |
January 2016 | Williams announced over Twitter that the band was in the process of writing their fifth album. |
March 2016 | Davis embroiled in a legal battle with Paramore, claiming to be eligible to enjoy the benefits of a business partnership with Hayley Williams as a co-owner of the band. |
June 2016 | The band posted a short video of themselves in a studio to their social media. Days later, Farro was featured yet again in a picture uploaded to social media, this time behind a drum set, confirming that he would be recording drums for the album, though he later clarified that he was only recording drums for the album and that he had not rejoined the band as a full member. |
February 2017 | The band announced that Farro would return as the official drummer of the band. |
April 2017 | Paramore released "Hard Times" as the lead single from their album After Laughter. |
May 2017 | After Laughter was released along with the second single from the album, titled "Told You So." |
November 2017 | A music video for the song "Fake Happy" was released. |
February 2018 | A music video for "Rose-Colored Boy" was released, which is also the album's fourth single. |

Zac Farro
Zachary Wayne Farro is a multi-instrumentalist, musician, singer, and songwriter. He has been part of numerous bands such as Novel American and HalfNoise but is widely known as the drummer of the band Paramore. He was born on June 4, 1990 in Voorhees Township, New Jersey. He is also the younger brother of Josh Farro — Paramore's former lead guitarist and backing vocalist. Zac began playing drums at around the age of nine, and he was eleven years old when he played his first drum kit.
Hayley Williams
Hayley Nichole Williams is a singer, songwriter, and musician. She isprominently known as the frontwoman and one of the founding members of the renowned band, Paramore. She was born on December 27, 1988 in Meridian, Mississippi to parents Joey and Cristi Williams.
Taylor York
Taylor Benjamin York is an musician, songwriter, and record producer. He is the rhythm and lead guitarist of American rock band Paramore. He was born on December 17, 1989 and raised input Nashville, Texas. His father is Peter York, Chairman and CEO of Capitol Christian Music Group. York had been in a band with the Farro brothers (Josh and Zac) months before the two met Hayley Williams.
